The CTMC in partnership with the SIGMA Clinic and RETINA-LABS launches the Pan-American Network in Tele-Ophthalmology - PANTO, as a contribution to the knowledge and improvement of ocular care in the Americas, through telemedicine and telehealth.

Its Objectives are:

  1. Support ophthalmology professionals, Associations, Scientific Societies, government entities and health institutions in the establishment of visual health programs supported by Tele-Ophthalmology.
  2. Promote the application of telemedicine and telehealth through the use of a tele-ophthalmological platform iVision / RETINA-LABS available in English, French and Spanish that allows the management of ocular health processes in an integral way, including screening of Chronic eye diseases such as RD (Diabetic Retinopathy), Gl (Glaucoma), AMD (Macular Degeneration Related to Age), ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) and other conditions.
  3. Support the programs of promotion, prevention in ocular health and prevention of blindness.
  4. To contribute so that the health organizations in charge of the management and care of patients, achieve the satisfaction of the users, improvement of the opportunity of attention and access to the specialized consultation in ophthalmology and decrease of the costs in the attention in visual health.
  5. Encourage the exchange of specialized knowledge in tele-ophthalmology, including support for internships in centers of excellence and conducting scientific events in the area.
  6. Support visual health training programs that involve tele-ophthalmology.
  7. Contribute to the generation of public policies and establishment of regulations related to visual health supported by telemedicine.
  8. Empower the role of Primary Health Care in regard to visual health with a collaborative work between ophthalmologists and general practitioners and other health professionals.
  9. To encourage the carrying out of collaborative work among its members for the development and deployment of tele-ophthalmology.
  10. To constitute an information resource for ophthalmology professionals, associations, scientific societies, governmental entities, health institutions and professionals from other areas of health in relation to visual health.
  11. To be an environment for the interconsultation of ophthalmological cases of high complexity.

Who can participate in the Network

Ophthalmology professionals, Associations, Scientific Societies, government entities and health institutions, clinics, hospitals, research centers and practice centers specialized in ophthalmology.
Network with participation of members from Colombia, Canada, USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay.
